DAY ONE – Sunday 26 May 2019
Venice, Italy

This morning we will collect you from Venice Airport (Marco Polo) between 11:00am - 12 noon and drive 1hr to Bassano del Grappa (Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park). We can also collect you from Annia Park Hotel Venice Airport should you prefer to arrive to Venice earlier. A midday collection means we can set-up the bikes and enjoy an afternoon warm up ride along the Valsugana bike path.

Tonight you will also enjoy a welcome tour dinner with the Sierra guides!

DAY TWO – Monday 27 May 2019

Cycling from the hotel and straight into Giro 2017 Stage 20 territory. The 100th edition of the Giro used the Foza climb as the last chance for the GC climbers to shape the race. Foza is a 14km climb with a 7% average grade, is the perfect initial test for the group, enjoys majestic scenery and has Giro fame at every switchback!

DAY THREE - Tue 28 MAY 2019

This morning there will be a short 30 min transfer towards Feltre. Everyone has heard of Monte Grappa and this Giro colossal will be attacked from the traditional race side starting in Feltre. The 29km climb gains 1400m of elevation and finishes at 1775m altitude. Enjoy the long descent back down to the valley floor!

DAY FOUR – Wed 29 May 2019
Giro Stage 17 - Santa Maria di Sala

Today you will cycle a brilliant loop through the rolling hills of the Prosecco and Cartize wine area. For those looking for a challenge then Monte Cesen which soars above Valdobbiadene is possible. This is a perfectly designed route to get your legs ready for the Dolomites which are fast approaching! During the afternoon we will transfer 1hr to Santa Maria di Sala to witness the 2019 Giro d’Italia Stage 17 sprint finish.

DAY FIVE – Thur 30 May 2019
Giro Stage 18 - Passo Manghen

Manghen Pass which will be rolled out for the 2019 Giro d’Italia Stage 18 summit finish. ‘Manghen’has been used during 5 previous Giro editions with Marco Pantani taking victory back in 1999 (2019 will be the 20 Year Anniversary!). The 22km climb takes one up to 2050m altitude.

Following the Giro stage finish we will have a 2.5hr transfer to Cortina d’Ampezzo one of the most recognised Dolomites ski villages.

DAY SIX – Friday 31 May 2019
Giro Stage 19 - Tre Cime di Lavaredo

Cycling from the hotel today we head into the Dolomitas de Auronzo and the famous Passo Tre Croci climb. The majestic Lake Misurina sits at the top of the climb at a staggering 1760m elevation. For those who would like an added challenge try your hand at the final 7km ascent to Tre Cime Lavaredo (average 8% grade) which will be used as the 2019 Giro d’Italia Stage 19 summit finish. On arriving to the Auronzo Refuge at 2300m the sheer size and beauty of the Tre Cime will take over! Today you will have a great vantage point to watch the peloton take on this race defining summit!

DAY SEVEN – Sat 1 June 2019

Today we take a break from the Giro race as one of the world´s most iconic cycling routes is on offer today: the Sella Ronda loop! After a couple of big days following two epic Giro summit finishes you will take a rest from the Giro today to focus on the job at hand! There are 4 steps to become a member of the Sella Ronda club: Passo Gardena, Passo Sella, Passo Campolongo and Passo Pordoi. The views of the jagged limestone peaks and winding roads will be etched into your memory for a lifetime!

DAY EIGHT – Sunday 2 June 2019
Giro d'Italia - Stage 21 Time Trial

The Giro d’Italia continues to provide race stages that keep the riders and fans guessing all the way to the finish line. During 2019 this will be no different with a tense Stage 21 Individual Time Trial to finish in Verona. The Roman Amphitheatre in Verona will be a spectacular backdrop for what is sure to be an incredible 2019 Giro finale! Who will be wearing the Maglia Rosa? Tonight in many ways will be a celebration of many great individual cycling accomplishments, friendships formed and Giro d’Italia appreciation! There is only one way to mark the occasion in true style and that is with a celebratory Spritz!

DAY NINE – Monday 3 June 2019
Tour Farewell

Following breakfast you are free to continue your own travels or we can organise a complimentary 1.5hr transfer to Venice Airport (Marco Polo). We hope you enjoyed the 2019 Giro d’Italia and we look forward to hosting you again soon!

2019 GIRO CYCLING TOUR - PRELIMINARY ITINERARY

Cycle northern Italy where the Maglia Rosa always earns its keep!
[PRELIMINARY 2019 GIRO ITINERARY - SUBJECT TO MINOR CHANGES - OFFICIAL RACE RELEASE OCTOBER 2018]

The 2019 Giro will be launched in Bologna, however, the race will not be decided until the truly emblematic and race defining stages in northern Italy. Sierra Sports & Tours is looking forward to showcasing 4 of the most important stages of the 2019 Giro d'Italia (Stages 17, 18, 19 & 21).

In particular, Stages 18 and 19 take the peloton into the big mountains and Passo Manghen & Tre Cime Lavaredo will be sure to shake-up the General Classification standings. The Stage 21 individual time trial in Verona will also create wonderful scenes as the Maglia Rosa jersey will be presented to the 2019 Giro winner in the spectacular Roman Amphitheatre!
